ExtremeWare plastic tableware is made of SAN plastic. SAN is a BPA-free blend of acrylic and styrene that’s very durable, break- and scratch-resistant, and food-safe. It’s a popular plastic tableware choice for homes and restaurants, indoors and out.
SAN plastic tableware is designed for years of use in both commercial and residential dishwashers for water temperatures up to 150-degrees F. SAN plastic drinkware and dishes and will not cloud and craze like acrylic glasses.
A note for residential users…
EnergyStar-rated residential dishwashers feature water heating systems that can far exceed commercial temperatures and damage plastic drinkware. Please consult your dishwasher user’s guide for a delicate/lower heat cycle to prevent damage to ALL plasticware.
SAN plastic is microwave reheat-safe, 1-2 minutes recommended. Note – higher cooking times or high wattage microwaves can damage SAN plastic over time.
Scratching and Wear:
ExtremeWare plastic tableware is very durable and its solid appearance minimizes the appearance of scratches, but can scratch when used with sharp knives. Melamine plastic dishes are better for heavy use with knives, see our Plastic Tableware section for melamine plates and bowls.
